Recipe Tips/Substitutions

Before you run off to make air fry apple chips, be sure to read through these recipe tips so that you make the best chips!

 • Make sure to use an apple that is crispy. We like using Cortland apples which work quite well. Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, and Gala apples are usually widely available and also work well.

 • The thickness of the apple slices is also very important. We’d suggest 1/8 of an inch in thickness. Any less and the apple chip will either crisp up too fast and burn or will be light enough to fly around too much the air fryer.

 • We recommend slicing the apple with with a mandolin, but if you don’t have one you can also use a knife. Just make sure that the chips have an even thickness. You don’t want one half to get burned while the other half is not done yet.

 • There’s no need to coat the apple slices in oil before cooking.

 • We like adding a little bit of cinnamon to or apple chips before cooking. You can change up the spices to suit your personal preferences – or skip them completely.

 • Remember to not overcrowd the air fryer as this can prevent the apple chips from getting crispy!

 • If you want to enjoy more apple chips, you can easily double the recipe.
