These air fryer pigs in a blanket are a little snack or appetizer that you can easily make at home. All you need is puff pastry and mini sausages, but you can add sesame seeds for that classic look.
They’re perfect as a snack, if you’re hosting people for game day, or if you want a bite-sized creation for your next party that disappears fast once it hits the food table.
They’re honestly very easy to put together, and they taste just like the store-bought ones (if not better). We like to eat them with ketchup, but mustard is also a popular choice.
If you’re in a rush, you can also cook some frozen pigs in a blanket in the air fryer.
Ingredients
- Cocktail Sausages – Sometimes also called little smokies, mini sausages, or cocktail wieners.
- Puff pastry – We like to use store-bought butter puff pastry. Use a sheet instead of a block that you have to roll out yourself for ease.
- Egg – For egg wash. Optional, but recommended (especially if adding sesame seeds).
- Sesame seeds – Optional topping.
Recipe Tips
- Pat the mini sausages dry before wrapping them in puff pastry. That helps the pastry stick better.
- The puff pastry strip should be narrower than the length of the sausages; otherwise the sausages may pop out from one side of the expanding dough.
- You can use a small amount of egg wash to help seal the puff pastry where it’s overlapping.
- You can also make the pigs in a blanket with crescent dough, but the cooking time can vary slightly.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer (leave some space between the wrapped sausages), so they can cook and brown evenly.
- The exact cooking time can vary depending on your air fryer and the thickness of the puff pastry.

Step-by-Step Instructions
First, drain the cocktail sausages and pat them dry if needed.
Then unfold or gently roll out the puff pastry and cut the puff pastry into strips (about 3/4 inch or 2 cm wide). Cut each strip into three pieces.
Wrap one piece of puff pastry around each mini sausage with a little overlap and gently press the seam together to seal. Place the wrapped sausages on a plate.
If using, brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Preheat the air fryer to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius). Then place the wrapped wieners in the air fryer basket in a single layer with space between.
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, golden brown, and cooked through. The exact cooking time can vary.
When done, remove the pigs in a blanket from the air fryer.
Let them cool for a minute or two, then enjoy with a dipping sauce of your choice (such as ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, or BBQ sauce). Enjoy!
Storage Tips
These pigs in a blanket are best hot and fresh right out of the air fryer. You can store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for about 3-4 days.
You can reheat them in the air fryer at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes, but don’t overcook the pastry, and watch the sausage ends as they may crisp and dry out further.
