Recipe Tips

Before you air fry sweet potato cubes, be sure to read through these recipe tips so that you have the best results!

  • Unlike making sweet potato fries in the air fryer, sweet potato wedges, or even an air fryer baked sweet potato, these sweet potato cubes won’t take long to cook because they are so small.
  • As with other sweet potato recipes, however, you’ll want to keep an eye on these cubes towards the end because the nice browning on the outside can turn into burnt rather quickly.
  • We cut our cubes to 1/2 inch. If you cut yours noticeably larger or smaller, your cooking time can vary a little bit.
  • You can change up the spices you season the sweet potato cubes with. We like to keep it simple with salt, pepper, and some garlic powder.

Add the sweet potato cubes to the air fryer.

When the air fryer is hot, add the sweet potato cubes. Gently shake the air fryer basket until they are in one even layer and there is little overlap.

If your air fryer is too small to fit this many sweet potato cubes without much overlap, cook them in two batches.

Cook the sweet potato cubes for 10-14 minutes (if you cut them larger than 1/2-inch, they might need slightly longer) until tender and slightly crispy.

Shake the air fryer basket every 4 minutes to allow for even cooking.

Storage Tips

If you make these air fryer sweet potato chunks and have leftovers, you can store them in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

They might get a little soggy in the fridge so we would recommend eating them sooner rather than later but they will still be tasty.

You can reheat them either in the air fryer if you want them to lose some of their moisture again or in the microwave if you just want to heat them up quickly.
