Recipe Tips
Before you head off to the kitchen to make sweet potato wedges in the air fryer, be sure to read through these recipe tips so that you achieve the best results!
- Try to cutting the sweet potatoes into similar sized wedges. This will help them air fry evenly.
- We use a simple spice blend of garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper but you can definitely add or subtract spices to suit your specific taste buds.
- Don’t overcrowd your air fryer! Giving the sweet potato wedges enough space to cook helps them get crispy.
- Because sweet potatoes are naturally sweet, watch the wedges towards the end of the cooking time since they can have a tendency to turn quite dark on the outside (this is the sugars caramelizing).
We use this air fryer for our recipes and it has been great.

First, wash the sweet potatoes and pat them dry. Then cut the sweet potatoes in half lengthwise.
Now cut the halves into wedges (approximately 4 wedges per half a sweet potato).

Preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees Fahrenheit.
While you wait, place the sweet potato wedges in a bowl together with oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Toss everything together until the wedges are evenly coated in oil and spices.

When the air fryer is hot, add the sweet potato wedges into the air fryer tray.
The wedges should be in one even layer with little overlap to allow for even cooking.

Cook the sweet potato wedges for 15-20 minutes total until tender on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside.
Shake the air fryer basket every 5 minutes during cooking. The exact cooking time can vary depending on the size of the wedges and your air fryer.

Once done, remove the wedges from the air fryer and place them in a serving bowl. You can serve them with a dipping sauce of your choice like chipotle mayo!
Storage Tips
Air-fried sweet potato wedges are best enjoyed hot and fresh. You can store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge – but the moisture can make them quite soggy.
To bring them back to life (kind of), toss the cold wedges back in the air fryer for a few minutes to reheat them and draw out some of the moisture.
