Air Fryer Apple Fritters

Cook Time12 minutes
Total Time20 minutes
Cooking Temperature360 degrees Fahrenheit

The exact cook time can vary. Read below for our tips!

Air fryer apple fritters are a delicious warm, apple-filled dessert.

They are easy to make with fresh apples, flour, sugar, eggs, cinnamon, and a few other ingredients – perfect for whipping up when the dessert craving hits!

They come out of the air fryer soft and tender on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Because they’re not deep-fried, they may taste a little different from the apple fritters you are used to – but they are delicious and satisfying without a lot of oil!

You can make a simple glaze to drizzle on top, or enjoy them with maple syrup, honey, or even berry compote for a little extra sweetness!

The ingredients needed for this apple fritter recipe!

To make these apple fritters, here are the ingredients that you will need:

  • Apples – A crisp apple like Granny Smith balances the sweetness nicely, but any apple will work.
  • All-purpose flour – To make the batter.
  • Granulated sugar – To sweeten the batter.
  • Ground cinnamon – For extra flavor. You can also add nutmeg if you like.
  • Baking powder – Leavening agent; make sure it’s fresh.
  • Salt (not pictured) – Enhances the overall flavor.
  • Vanilla extract – For extra flavor. Alternatively, you can use vanilla bean paste or almond extract.
  • Eggs – To make the batter.
  • Milk – To make the batter; low-fat and whole milk both work. Non-dairy alternatives are also an option.
  • Vegetable oil – Helps with browning. Alternatively, you can use avocado oil, canola oil, or sunflower oil.

Recipe Tips

Before you take on these tasty apple fritters in the air fryer, have a read through these recipe tips so that you know exactly what to expect!

  • The type of apple you use will affect the taste of the apple fritters. If you want them to be very sweet, choose sweet apples. If you want them less sweet, choose crisp apples like Granny Smith for a tart contrast to the sweet batter.
  • Either cut the apples into thin, even pieces or grate them so they cook through in the air fryer.
  • Line your air fryer with parchment paper to keep the batter from dripping through the air fryer basket.
  • Don’t overcrowd your air fryer. You’ll likely have to cook the fritters in batches.
  • Keep in mind that the exact cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer and the size of the apple fritters.
  • After baking, you can glaze the fritters with a simple sugar glaze or sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar if you like.
  • Enjoy the apple fritters warm and fresh for the best taste.

Storage Tips

As mentioned above, these apple fritters are best warm and fresh out of the air fryer. If you have leftovers, you can store them in a sealed container on the counter at room temperature for about a day or two.

However, we would recommend eating them sooner rather than later and not making more than you think you’ll eat.

You can reheat them in the air fryer for a quick minute or two at a low temperature, such as 280 degrees Fahrenheit.
