The exact cook time can vary. Read below for our tips!
Have you ever cooked gnocchi in the air fryer? If not, you should give it a try.
Ready in just a few minutes, the gnocchi (homemade or store-bought) are tossed in oil and spices before being air-fried until crispy. Don’t forget to sprinkle some cheese on for extra goodness!
We love gnocchi, so this recipe is one of our go-to’s… especially when we’re short on time. You can enjoy these gnocchi as a filling snack, appetizer, or quick dinner.
For even more flavor, can also serve them with a sauce of choice – like Marinara – for dipping!
Ingredients
Here are the gnocchi ingredients you’ll need to tackle this simple recipe:
- Gnocchi – The main ingredient; homemade and store-bought gnocchi work. We use regular store-bought potato gnocchi, but you can also use cauliflower gnocchi.
- Grated cheddar cheese – Adds richness and flavor. You can also use any other grated cheese of your choice, such as gruyere or marble.
- Grated parmesan – For even more cheesy goodness.
- Salt – To enhance the overall flavor; adjust to taste.
- Granulated garlic – For extra flavor; feel free to skip if you don’t like garlic.
- Paprika – For extra flavor and color. You can use smoked paprika if you like the smoky taste.
- Dried herbs – Such as Italian seasoning or a combination of your favorite dried herbs (e.g. thyme, basil, oregano).
- Olive oil – To coat the gnocchi and help them crisp. You can substitute with another oil of choice (such as avocado or vegetable oil) or melted butter.
Recipe Tips
- You can use frozen gnocchi, just make sure to increase the cooking time a bit.
- Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste. Instead of both grated cheddar and parmesan, you can just use one.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer, the gnocchi should be in one layer. Otherwise, they may not cook and crisp evenly.
- Serve the gnocchi immediately after cooking; they will lose their crispiness as they cool.
Step by Step Instructions
Here are the recipe process photos for how to make these air fryer gnocchi. You can follow along at home if you like visuals.
Otherwise, the recipe card with all the details (but no photos) is located at the bottom of the post.
First, preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
In the meantime, combine the olive oil, granulated garlic, dried herbs, salt, and paprika in a large bowl. Then add the gnocchi to the bowl and gently toss until they are evenly coated.
Place the gnocchi in the preheated air fryer. They should be in one even layer, otherwise, cook in batches.
Air fry the gnocchi at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes, or until the gnocchi are cooked and slightly crispy. Shake the air fryer basket halfway through the cooking time.
Then sprinkle the gnocchi with grated cheddar and Parmesan cheese and air fry for another 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
Serve the gnocchi immediately so they maintain their crispiness. You can garnish them with extra Parmesan and fresh herbs if you like.
You can also serve them with a dipping sauce. Enjoy!
Storage Tips
These gnocchi are pretty easy to store if you have any leftovers. Allow them to cool, then store them in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
You can reheat them in the air fryer at a lower temperature such as 300 degrees Fahrenheit for just a few minutes until they heat through.
