Recipe Tips
Before you make these air fryer corn tortilla chips, have a brief read through these recipe tips so that you know what to expect from this recipe!
- Use corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas for a crispier texture.
- There are lots of different variations you can make by trying different spices. We keep it simple with just salt but you can get creative. An easy addition would be paprika or chili powder.
- Don’t skip the oil as this makes the tortilla chips extra crispy. You don’t need a lot.
- If you don’t have an oil spray bottle, you can brush the corn tortillas with some oil before cutting them. Make sure to brush both sides with oil.
- Don’t overcrowd your air fryer – otherwise the tortilla chips might not cook and crisp evenly. Air fry them in batches.
- The tortilla chips will harden further as they cool. They can also go from perfect to too dark quite quickly, so keep an eye on them.

Start by preheating the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also skip preheating if you prefer, just keep in mind that the cooking time for the first batch may be a minute or so longer.
Next, cut the corn tortillas into wedges (usually quarters work well).

When the air fryer is hot, place enough tortilla wedges into the air fryer in one layer – be sure there is no overlap. You’ll likely have to cook them in batches.

Lightly spray the chips with oil spray.

Air fry the corn tortilla chips at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes, flip them over, and spray them with more oil. Air fry for another 2-3 minutes.
Keep an eye on them because they can go from perfectly crispy to too dark quite quickly.
The exact cooking time can vary based on the brand of corn tortillas, your air fryer and personal preference.

When they are done, remove the chips from the air fryer and place them on a cooling rack. Sprinkle them with salt right away.
The tortilla chips will harden and absorb more of the oil as they cool.

Repeat the above steps until you have air fried all the corn tortillas. Then serve the tortilla chips with salsa or other dip of choice. Enjoy!
Storage Tips
These tortilla chips are best enjoyed crispy and fresh. You can place any leftovers in a sealed container and store them at room temperature.
They will last for a few days, but we would recommend eating them sooner rather than later since they can get slightly stale over time.
Don’t store them in the fridge – this would make them soggy over time.
The good news is that you can reheat them in the air fryer. Aim for 280 degrees Fahrenheit for just a minute or two until heated through.
What to Serve Air Fryer Tortilla Chips With
Once you’ve got these freshly made tortilla chips, you can dip them in your favorite salsa, guacamole, a nice queso dip, or sour cream.
If all this talk of dipping is making you hungry, you might then consider making air fryer nachos with these chips!
