Air fryer cherry tomatoes are a delightful, colorful creation that are so easy to make with just a little oil and some common spices like Italian seasoning.
These cherry tomatoes can be a lovely side dish, a delicious topping for toasted bread, or an ingredient in another dish all together!
Ingredients
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make these air fryer roasted cherry tomatoes – it’s really easy:
- Cherry tomatoes – We like using mixed-colored cherry tomatoes for a pop of color, but any cherry tomatoes will work.
- Avocado oil – For added flavor and for the spices to stick to the cherry tomatoes.
- Italian seasoning – Instead of Italian seasoning you can also use (a mix of) dried rosemary, dried thyme and/or dried oregano depending on your personal preference.
- Garlic powder – Add more garlic powder to taste.
- Salt – For flavor; you can add more to taste.
- Black pepper – Add more or less to taste.
Recipe Tips
Before you make these cherry tomatoes in the air fryer, read through these recipe tips so that they turn out well:
- We like using differently colored cherry tomatoes for a pop of color which is great if you plan on spreading the cherry tomatoes on toasted bread.
- We recommend cutting the cherry tomatoes in half before air frying so that the spices adhere better. However, you can also air fry them whole. Just keep in mind that the spices won’t stick as well and that they will likely burst open during cooking. The cooking time for whole cherry tomatoes can also vary.
- You can adjust the spices to suit your personal preferences. If you plan on using them as an ingredient in another dish, e.g. a pasta sauce, make sure the spices you use work with that dish.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer, otherwise the cherry tomatoes might not cook evenly.
- Keep in mind that the more you cook the tomatoes, the softer and messier they get.

At this time also preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
Next, add the avocado oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the cut tomatoes in the bowl.
Toss everything gently until the tomatoes are evenly coated in oil and spices.
Once the air fryer is preheated, add the tomatoes into the air fryer basket and gently spread them out into an even layer.
Air fry the cherry tomatoes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 9-10 minutes until soft and slightly roasted.
This cooking time might vary depending on your personal preference and your air fryer.
When done, gently remove the roasted cherry tomatoes from the air fryer and serve them as a vegetable side, on toasted bread, or use them as an ingredient in another dish. Be careful, they will be hot!
Storage Tips
These air fryer cherry tomatoes taste best when they are freshly made. Because they have so much moisture, they don’t store great.
You can store them in a sealed container in the fridge – but expect them to be quite mushy the next day. If you plan on using them in a pasta sauce or similar, that’s not a big deal though.
