Recipe Tips

  • You don’t have to add any extra oil to the frozen popcorn chicken. Most brands will have a breading that is ready to get crispy.
  • There’s also no need to defrost the popcorn chicken first – just take it out of the freezer and place it in the preheated air fryer.
  • Be sure to spread out the frozen popcorn chicken in the air fryer basket so that they all have room to cook and crisp evenly.

Step-by-Step Instructions

To be honest, frozen popcorn chicken in the air fryer is really simple to make. However, if you’d like to see exactly how we make ours, you can have a look at the process photos below.

First, preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (205 degrees Celsius).

Then place the frozen popcorn chicken in the air fryer. Be sure to spread them out in one layer so they can cook and crisp up evenly.

If you can’t fit this amount of popcorn chicken into your air fryer, cook it in two batches or just make less.

Cook the popcorn chicken for about 10 minutes total. Remember to give the air fryer basket a shake halfway through the cooking time.

If you want the popcorn chicken extra crispy, you can cook it for a bit longer.

When done, remove the popcorn chicken from the air fryer and serve it with your favorite dipping sauce. We like plum or sweet and sour sauce!

Storage Tips

Air fryer frozen popcorn chicken is best served hot out of the air fryer. You can store any leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Depending on the brand, leftovers should stay relatively crispy but will likely soften in the fridge over time. You can eat leftovers cold (we did this and they were still good the next day) or heat them again in the air fryer!
