The ingredients needed for this roasted almond recipe!

To make this recipe for roasted almonds in the air fryer, here are the ingredients that you will need:

  • Almonds – Make sure to use raw/natural whole almonds with skin on. You can make it with sliced almonds as well but the cooking time will be significantly shorter.
  • Oil – If you want to use spices, make sure to also use some oil so that the spices can stick to the almonds! We use avocado oil, but other neutral-tasting oils also work.
  • Sea salt – We like the taste of sea salt with roasted almonds. Fine sea salt distributes better, but coarse sea salt will also work if that’s what you have. Of course you can also use other types of salt, but if you’re using table salt, we’d recommend reducing the amount!

Recipe Tips

Before you make these salted roasted almonds in air fryer, read through these recipe tips so that you know everything we know!

  • Make sure to use good quality raw almonds (with skin on). They shouldn’t have been sitting in the back of the pantry for a long time – you’ll taste the difference. Sometimes raw almonds are called “natural almonds” on the packaging.
  • In addition to salt, you can also add 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, or other seasonings of your choice. There are plenty of different versions you can make.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. The almonds should be in one even layer so that they can roast evenly. If your air fryer is too small, cook the almonds in batches.
  • The almonds might still be slightly “shiny” when done cooking due to the oil – the almonds will absorb this oil as they cool.
  • Don’t cook the almonds too long since they can go from brown to burned really quickly.
  • They will likely make crackle sounds and some almonds might split open during cooking – don’t be surprised by this.

Season the almonds with oil and spices.

Next, add the almonds, oil, and sea salt into a mixing bowl and toss everything until evenly coated.

If you want to add more seasonings, you can add them at this time as well.

Add the almonds to the air fryer.

Once the air fryer is hot, add the almonds into the air fryer and give the basket a shake to spread them out in one even layer.

Don’t overcrowd the air fryer as this would keep the almonds from roasting evenly. If your air fryer is too small for the almonds to spread out in one layer, cook them in batches.

The almonds will turn darker as they cook.

Air fry the almonds at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes total until browned and crispy.

Shake the air fryer basket every 2 minutes and keep a close eye on them – these almonds can get very dark quite quickly.

They will smell toasted and make crackling sounds when they are (close to being) done. The roasted almonds might also still be slightly shiny from the oil when they are done which is completely fine.

The exact cooking time can vary by air fryer, but as already mentioned, keep a close eye on the almonds especially towards the end!

When they are done, remove the almonds from the air fryer and place them in a bowl. You can sprinkle them with more salt if desired.

Let the almonds cool slightly before consuming – they will lose some of their shininess as they absorb the rest of the oil. Enjoy!

Storage Tips

These roasted almonds will keep for quite some time. You can store any leftovers in a jar or container with a lid.

Stored at room temperature in a dry place, they will last for a few weeks. If you want to extend this, you can also store them in the refrigerator. But they likely won’t last long anyway.
