Recipe Tips

  • You won’t need any additional oil, butter, or spices. It’s usually ready to cook as is.
  • Frozen garlic bread comes in different styles, such as loaves that need to be split, flat slices, and cheese-topped versions. Cooking times and steps may vary, so read the package instructions for guidance.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. The slices of garlic bread should fit in one layer without overlap so they can cook and crisp evenly.
  • If you add cheese, watch it closely since it can go from melted to overly browned quickly.
  • The exact cooking time can vary depending on the style and thickness of the garlic bread and your air fryer.

Step-by-Step Instructions

First, make sure that the garlic bread fits into your air fryer. If it doesn’t, cut it in half.

Then preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) and add the frozen garlic bread.

There are many different brands of frozen garlic bread, so the exact steps might vary.

Our frozen garlic bread needs to be air-fried for about 5 minutes before we can open the pre-cut loaf. Then we toast the open sides for about 2-3 more minutes.

Once the top is getting crispy, we add the cheese that comes with it and air fry until the cheese is melted and golden brown (about 3 more minutes).

If your garlic bread doesn’t come with cheese that needs to be added, take it out of the air fryer when the garlic bread is fully cooked and crispy (after about 6-9 minutes).

Storage Tips

Garlic bread tastes best when it is fresh, so don’t plan to make extra to have leftovers.

If you do end up with leftovers, you can store them in a sealed container on the counter (if you eat them within a few hours) or in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

It will get a little tough and won’t be as good as when it’s fresh, but reheating it in the air fryer helps.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen garlic bread, loaf

Instructions

  • Make sure the frozen garlic bread fits in your air fryer. If necessary, cut it in half.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  • Once the air fryer is preheated, place the frozen garlic bread in the air fryer basket in one layer.
  • Cook according to the style of bread:
For brands that require you to separate the halves: Air fry for about 5 minutes to thaw, then separate the halves and place them cut-side up and air fry for 2-3 more minutes.
If your bread comes with packaged cheese to add separately, sprinkle it on once the top is hot and slightly crispy. Continue air frying for about 3 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
For garlic bread with cheese already on top or flat slices that don't require separation: Air fry for 6-9 minutes total, or until heated through and crispy on top.
  • Carefully remove the garlic bread from the air fryer and serve warm.

Notes

  • There are a few different types of frozen garlic bread. The cooking time can vary depending on the brand/style, the thickness of the bread, and your air fryer. Keep an eye on the garlic bread when making it in the air fryer for the first time.
