If you’re looking for a tasty “surf and turf” appetizer, you should try air fryer bacon-wrapped shrimp!
These bite-sized treats are made with precooked shrimp (raw shrimp will work, too) and strips of bacon coated in a sweet and savory sauce.
The air fryer makes them crispy and juicy in just a few minutes. They are easy to make and even easier to eat – making them perfect for many occasions, whether it is a holiday party, a family gathering, or just a nice meal at home!
Ingredients
Here are the ingredients to make bacon-wrapped shrimp in the air fryer. It’s very easy to do – you just need a bit of patience wrapping all the bacon slices around the shrimp!
- Shrimp – Choose medium to large, peeled shrimp. You can use raw or precooked shrimp. They should be thawed.
- Bacon – Use your preferred type of bacon, but stay away from thick-cut bacon for this recipe.
- Teriyaki sauce – Adds a savory and slightly sweet flavor to the shrimp.
- Maple syrup – Adds sweetness and helps the shrimp get crispy.
- Salt – To enhance the overall flavor.
- Ground coriander – Optional; for extra flavor.
- Granulated garlic – Or garlic powder; adds a hint of garlic flavor.
- Oil – To prevent the shrimp from sticking to the air fryer tray.
Recipe Tips
Before you make these shrimp wrapped in bacon in the air fryer, have a quick read through this tip section so that you know what to consider:
- Choose shrimp that are large enough to wrap bacon around them. They should all be about the same size so that they cook evenly.
- We used precooked shrimp. If you are using raw shrimp, the cooking time will be slightly longer. The shrimp turn pink when cooked.
- The shrimp should be thawed before using them in this recipe. If you have frozen shrimp, place them in a colander and rinse them under cold water for a few minutes until thawed.
- If the shrimp still have their shells and/or veins, remove them before wrapping them in bacon. This will make the shrimp more enjoyable to eat later.
- You can adjust the seasonings to your liking.
- Don’t use thick-cut bacon for this recipe as it needs longer to cook. If that’s all you have, you can partially cook the bacon first and then wrap it around the shrimp.
- If the bacon wants to unravel, you can secure it with half a toothpick.
- Don’t overcrowd your air fryer or the bacon-wrapped shrimp may not cook evenly. If you can’t fit all of the shrimp in one layer, air fry in batches.
- The exact cooking time can vary depending on whether you are using raw or precooked shrimp, the size of the shrimp, the thickness of the bacon, and your air fryer. Make sure the shrimp are completely cooked prior to consumption.

Cut the bacon slices into 1-inch wide strips and wrap each shrimp with a strip of bacon.
Preheat the air fryer to 360°F for about 5 minutes or until it indicates that it is preheated.
In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, maple syrup, salt, coriander (optional), and granulated garlic. Brush some of the sauce over each shrimp with a silicone brush (you can save some of the sauce for later).
Brush or spray the air fryer basket with a bit of oil and place the shrimp in a single layer into the air fryer.
Don’t overcrowd the basket – otherwise, the shrimp may not cook evenly and the bacon may not get crispy.
Air fry the shrimp at 360 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 minutes.
Then flip the shrimp over and brush them with the remaining sauce. Air fry for another 4-5 minutes or until the bacon is cooked and crispy.
Try not to overcook the shrimp as this can make them rubbery.
As mentioned in the tips section above, the exact cooking time can vary depending on the shrimp and your air fryer.
Enjoy your homemade air fryer bacon-wrapped shrimp while they are hot or warm (but they also taste good cold).
Storage Tips
These shrimp covered in bacon are best enjoyed fresh. Any leftovers should be stored in a sealed container in the fridge once they’ve cooled to room temperature.
Properly stored, they’ll last for up to 2-3 days.
We do not recommend reheating the shrimp as this can make them rubbery. Instead, you can enjoy the leftovers cold.
FAQ
The exact cooking time depends on the size of the shrimp, the thickness of the bacon, and your air fryer. Medium-sized precooked bacon-wrapped shrimp cook at 360 degrees Fahrenheit for about 6 minutes on one side, then another 4-5 minutes after flipping.
