Before you make frozen hash browns in the air fryer, read through these few recipe tips so that you make them perfectly!
- We usually make hash brown patties since they were easier to cook and flip. Loose hash browns in the air fryer would be more difficult to make because they might fall through the cooking tray.
- We didn’t add any additional oil to these hash browns – depending on the brand there’s usually enough oil in the potato, to begin with.
- You also don’t have to thaw these hash browns at all. They can go right in the air fryer from the freezer and they’ll cook just fine!

Step by Step Instructions

First, preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once your air fryer is hot, add the frozen hash browns to the tray. The patties shouldn’t touch and should be in one even layer.

Cook the frozen hash browns for 10-12 minutes total. It’s important to flip the patties halfway through the cooking time. We like ours crispy, so we usually leave them in for 12 minutes.
Cook time can vary depending on the brand of hash browns and the air fryer – so keep an eye on them towards the end. If they are not done yet, you can leave them in for a bit longer.

Once cooked, carefully remove them from the air fryer and serve with your other breakfast or brunch items. They go great with ketchup!
Storage Tips
You should only make as many air fryer hash brown patties as you need. This is because they don’t taste that great once they have cooled off or been stored in a sealed container in the fridge (even just overnight).
The moisture eliminates all the crispiness and they just aren’t as good as fresh out of the fryer.
What to Serve Air Fryer Frozen Hash Browns With
Since hash browns are usually a breakfast or brunch item, these air fryer frozen hash browns are best enjoyed in the morning.
They can be part of a savory breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage links or sausage patties. These hash browns can also be the savory side to a sweet breakfast with French toast, waffles, or pancakes.
We usually like to eat our hash browns the old fashioned way with ketchup for dipping!
