Recipe Tips/Substitutions

Before you make air fryer frozen waffle fries, have a quick read through these recipe tips:

  • You can choose to add extra oil to your fries to enhance crispiness. This is an optional step. Since each brand of waffle fry is going to be different, you may not need to add any. We often don’t and the waffle fries turn out great!
  • If your waffle fries aren’t already flavored yet, you can add salt or seasoning salt at the end. If you add oil to the fries, you could also add some salt before cooking them. However, don’t add salt before cooking if you don’t also add oil – you don’t want the salt to fly around in the air fryer and get in contact with the heating elements.
  • Be sure not to overcrowd the air fryer. We cooked this amount of frozen waffle fries in one batch but if you have a smaller air fryer (smaller than our 6 quart) consider cooking in two batches. Waffles fries need room to crisp up properly!

Place the waffle fries into the air fryer.

Turn on the air fryer and preheat it to 385 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you want your waffle fries a little extra crispy, you can place them in a mixing bowl and add one teaspoon of oil. Toss the fries in the oil until they are coated evenly. This step is optional, however.

Once your air fryer is heated, add the frozen waffle fries in one even layer. A little bit of overlap is fine, but the fries shouldn’t overlap too much so that they have room to cook and crisp up.

Cook the waffle fries for a total of 13-15 minutes or until they have reached your desired level of crispiness.

Shake them every 5 minutes during cooking so that they cook evenly. Since every air fryer is slightly different, your cook time may vary.

Once cooked, remove the waffle fries from the air fryer and place them in a bowl.

If the waffle fries aren’t already flavored, shake on your favorite seasoning salt or normal table salt until evenly coated.

Serve the waffle fries with a dipping sauce such as ketchup or chipotle mayo!

Storage Tips

When you air fry frozen waffle fries, it’s best to not plan for leftovers since they are best hot and crispy out of the fryer.

They’ll get less crispy as they cool and aren’t the same if you try to reheat them.

What to Serve Air Fryer Frozen Waffle Fries With

Frozen waffle fries are the perfect snack when you want something fast and filling. Of course, you can top them with a seasoning you like or dip them in ketchup or a creamy chipotle mayo.
