  • Salmon fillets – Fresh salmon fillets that are roughly the same size and of similar thickness.

  • Pepper – Adds a hint of spice and complements the sweetness of the honey.
  • Honey – To add some sweetness and create a delicious caramelized glaze on the salmon.
  • Olive oil – To coat the salmon and keep it moist during cooking. Alternatively, use avocado oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, or similar.
  • Soy sauce – To add depth of flavor.
  • Garlic cloves – Chopped garlic cloves add aromatic flavor to the marinade.

Recipe Tips

Before you start making the recipe for honey garlic air fryer salmon, read through the recipe tips so that you know just what to expect.

  • Use fresh salmon fillets that are similar in size and thickness so that they cook evenly. Wild salmon usually cooks a little faster than fresh farmed salmon fillets because it contains less fat.
  • You can make this recipe with frozen salmon fillets, but the cooking time will be slightly longer.
  • Brush the salmon fillets evenly with the marinade. Then allow the salmon to marinate for at least 30 minutes for maximum flavor.
  • Don’t overcook the salmon as this can dry it out. The FDA recommends an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Some people find that this temperature is too high and use 125 degrees Fahrenheit as a guideline. You can refer to the official guidelines by the FDA.

When the salmon fillets are cooked, remove them from the air fryer. Serve immediately while they are as juicy as possible.

You can serve them with lemon slices and chopped fresh herbs. Enjoy!

Storage Tips

If you have leftover honey garlic salmon, let it cool and store it in a sealed container or wrapped in foil in the fridge.

Properly stored, they will keep for 3-4 days in the fridge, but we recommend eating the leftovers sooner rather than later.

You can easily reheat them in the air fryer at 280 degrees Fahrenheit. It won’t take too long to get the thickest parts back to a nice hot temperature!

Just be careful not to overcook or the marinade may start to burn (since it’s already caramelized).

    • Yes, you can – but the cooking time will be different. I’d marinate the salmon fillets as described in the recipe, then place them in a baking dish with some space between them, and cook them in the preheated oven at 370°F for about 15 minutes (this is a guideline – the exact cooking time can vary depending on the thickness of the salmon fillets and your oven). Keep a close eye on them towards the end!

Wow just made this and it’s very flavorful. Simple ingredients I already had on hand. Instead of soy sauce I used coconut aminos. Thanks for this, will definitely make it again.

  2. I need recipes for a 2 quart air fryer. I search for recipes that are low carb. Will this work using a 2 quart air fryer? Looks yummy. Can’t wait to try it.

    • Hi Gail, you should be able to make this in a 2-quart air fryer (depending on the layout, you may only be able to fit 1 salmon fillet at a time without overlap) but the cooking time will likely be slightly different. So keep a close eye on the salmon the first time you make this recipe, since you don’t want to overcook it and dry it out. Then you’ll know the specific cooking time for your air fryer for next time.
