Frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer are a great way to enjoy sweet potato fries! They are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
A bit easier to make than sweet potato fries from fresh, these frozen sweet potato fries pack that classic sweet taste that people love without the extra work.

Recipe Tips/Substitutions
Before you make air fryer frozen sweet potato fries, have a quick glance through these recipe tips:
- The cooking time is for frozen sweet potato fries that are of a normal thickness. Thicker cut fries will need more time in the air fryer while “shoestring” cut fries (skinnier ones) may need less time.
- If you want to give your sweet potato fries a little extra crisp, you can add a bit of oil – however, this step is not mandatory. Most brands of fries will have some degree of oil in the fry already.
- It’s important not to overcrowd the air fryer – the fries need space to cook. This is how they get crispy!
- We recommend adding (seasoning) salt at the end and not the beginning (especially if you don’t add any extra oil). Otherwise, the salt might just fly around in the air fryer and get burned by the heating elements.
We use this air fryer for our recipes and it has been great.

Step by Step Instructions

In case you just want to get started, skip down to the detailed recipe card to check out the cooking time and temperature!

First, preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees Fahrenheit.
To get your frozen sweet potato fries a little crispier, you can place the frozen fries into a bowl and add one teaspoon of oil.
Toss the sweet potato fries until they are evenly coated in oil. This step is completely optional.
When the air fryer has pre-heated, place the frozen sweet potato fries in one even layer in the air fryer tray. The sweet potato fries should not overlap too much – otherwise make them in two batches.

Cook the sweet potato fries for 13-15 minutes total until they are crispy and but not burnt at the tips. Shake the tray every 5 minutes.
Sweet potato fries can be harder to cook and have a tendency to burn at the tips because of the sugar in the fry so keep an eye on them towards the end. Since every air fryer is different, your air frying time may vary.
Once done, remove the sweet potato fries from the air fryer and place them in a bowl large enough to toss them. Add in your favorite (seasoning) salt and toss the crispy sweet potato fries until evenly coated.

Serve these sweet potato fries with a dipping sauce – we like a tangy chipotle mayo or creamy ranch!
Storage Tips
You can store any leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge. Due to the moisture, they’ll get a little soggy but they are still good to eat cold or warmed up over the course of a few days.
If you do want to reheat them, we’d suggest doing it in the air fryer so they get the chance to dry out again. The microwave also works but it will make them less crispy!
What to Serve Air Fryer Frozen Sweet Potato Fries With
Air fried frozen sweet potato fries make a great side to other finger foods/meat dishes like popcorn chicken, chicken nuggets, chicken drumsticks, or even frozen chicken breast done in the air fryer.
If you make these sweet fries as a snack, you can munch on them as is or with a dipping sauce. Creamy-based sauces – like a chipotle mayo or a ranch – go well with the sweetness of the fry.
